[GMVAtech 10] Fila10G setup and FMSET

Dear all,

During the previous tests of the DBBC2 fullband mode it has turned out that running FMSET to synchronize the Fila10G will prevent the fullband mode from functioning properly.
Sven and Ed have looked into the issue in more detail and found the following:
When executing fmset several commands are being sent to the FilA10g one of it being „inputselect". The inputselect statement will lead to e.g. register settings off the FiLA10G to be overwritten.
This practically means that any call of fmset after loading the fullband mode procedure will overwrite the required setup. We are discussing at the moment options with Ed.

As a workaround the following sequence of commands is recommended when running in fullband mode:
1) first run fmset
2) then execute the fullband mode procedure

In the procedure statements any „reset“ commands should be called with the „keepsync“ option as otherwise the time synchronization will be lost again.
The instructions have been updated accordingly on the GMVA wiki pages:
https://deki.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de/GMVA/GMVA_Setups#ALMA_Mode_4_Gbps_(fullband_mode) <https://deki.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de/GMVA/GMVA_Setups#ALMA_Mode_4_Gbps_(fullband_mode)>

Note that this only applies if your FiLA10G is not equipped with the GPS module as otherwise calling fmset is not needed for time synchronization.
Regardless of the presence of a GPS module fmset should never be called after loading the fullband mode setup.

Another test of the fullband mode is planned as part of the upcoming GMVA session. More detailed instructions will be circulated soon.

All the best,
Helge
